What are Creative Solutions through Brainstorming

The four basic rules for brainstorming:

No idea must be criticised:

There is no point in sitting together and discussing if everyone is criticising each other for the various ideas they come up then there is no point in brainstorming. Every plan should be discussed even though it may sound very naive. You will never know how a simple idea can bring out solutions to significant problems.

 Open to unusual ideas:

Everyone in the discussion is free to give their thoughts no matter how strange it is. When you think laterally you will come up with unusual ideas, they sometimes may not be helpful, but it puts you on the right track.

Any number of views is welcomed:

To get more ideas, you need more people in the discussion to brainstorm. When there are more ideas, you can sort out the possibilities and ignore the ones that are not required.

Combining ideas:

Sometimes, a combination of two or more ideas can help you come up with a proper solution to the problem.

Brainstorming are needed while,

  • Developing a solution definition to a problem; especially in knowing alternative ideas to bring about solutions.
  • Recognizing the potential risks to design or plan.
  • Identifying the various deliverables and work items that are required for a project.
  • Handling with critical situations and severe problems that come up during the development of a project.
  • To find loopholes if any and avoid such situations by providing a proper solution.
  • Coming up with new ideas for adding and improving the latest functionality of a project plan.

Brainstorming methods:

There are many methods to brainstorm, and one of the first steps is to identify the problem. Only when you know what the problem is you will understand the need for a brainstorming session. Once you have identified the problem, you can analyse and work on providing an efficient solution to the problem. The next thing you need to focus on is to have a mind map and present the issue. When you have a mind map, you will come up with creative ideas which you can show to everyone in the discussion.
